Since the early 60's microalloying technology has been intensively developed. Each of the principal microalloying elements, Nb,V and Ti has its own characteristics and by making proper use of them the metallrugist can design steels with excellent combination of properties.
Microalloying technology has been applied to a wide number of steels, both flat and long products. In this paper it is suummarized the importance of microalloying technology to steel products. It is also described about the development of the production of microalloyed steels since the early 60's till current days.
